Floyd Mayweather vs. John Gotti III 2 – Full Card Results: Mayweather and Gotti Go to the Finish in Exhibition Rematch

Aside from a strange second round, there was no controversy surrounding the rematch between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III in Mexico City.

The fight went the full distance and if one were to judge the contest, it would have been a one-sided exhibition performance by the legendary Mayweather.

Gotti entered the fight focused as always and promising a knockout. He landed solid inside punches, but Mayweather’s defense, which had helped him throughout his Hall of Fame career, was too slick. His quick hands were too much for Gotti at various points.

The fight went almost without a hitch. In the second round, Mayweather changed the referee mid-fight. This almost led to another brawl between the two camps, but the situation quickly resolved itself.

Gotti complained about several punches to the back of the head, but no points were deducted and Mayweather only received a stern warning. He responded by smiling, talking to people outside and playing with his food. Both hugged when the contest was over.

Mayweather earned another paycheck on top of his recent endeavors after retiring from professional sports in 2017. He dismissed rumors that he would fight the legendary 62-year-old Julio Cesar Chavez. As for Gotti, it is unknown what is next for the MMA fighter, boxer and grandson of notorious mobster John Gotti.

The co-main was a battle between legitimate competitors.

Top-ranked Alan Picasso and former challenger Azat Hovhannisyan fought a hard-fought battle for the WBC super bantamweight titles. With points still in play, both went for it. Picasso was ahead on the cards, especially after Hovhannisyan was deducted a point for several strikes below the belt, but they didn’t get through the fight easily.

Both approached the fight cautiously. Hovhannisyan tried to land body shots while Picasso used his reach to land jabs and overhands. The judges scored the fight in Picasso’s favor.

Former Mayweather opponent Victor Ortiz returned to the ring for the first time since 2022, lasting all eight rounds in an exhibition fight against Damian Coria. The former world champion looked slow at the beginning but picked up the pace in the later rounds. No winner was announced.

Ortiz expects to take part in a professional fight next week where he will showcase his previously dominant skills.

Meanwhile, Mayweather’s protégé Curmel Moton needed just 55 seconds to defeat Victor Vazquez, who last fought in 2018. The 18-year-old continues his progress in the ring with his third win in 2024.
