“Ohio knows how to make history,” Liz Walters, chairwoman of the Ohio Democratic Party, said at the party’s convention on Tuesday. “We put a man on the moon and we are the founding home of the AFL-CIO. We enshrined abortion rights in our state constitution by a 13-point majority and we will send Sherrod Brown back to the U.S. Senate. As the first woman to lead the Ohio Democratic Party, I am proud to cast our vote for the first female president of the United States.”

Democrats officially nominated Harris in a virtual roll call vote earlier this month, but the ceremonial vote took place on Tuesday.

What should Ohio’s walk-up song be?

Ohio Democrats submitted several suggestions for their “walk-up” song, including Ohio’s official rock song, “Hang On Sloopy,” and “Gold on the Ceiling” by The Black Keys.

But since there are so many musicians and bands from Ohio, viewers at home quickly came up with alternative suggestions:

  • “Gold on the Ceiling” by Akron-formed The Black Keys

  • “OHIO” by the Dayton funk band Ohio Players

  • Canton R&B group O’Jay’s “Love Train”

  • “Talkin’ Bout a Revolution” by Cleveland native Tracy Chapman

  • The Pretenders (main songwriter Chrissie Hynde is from Akron)

  • “Cleveland Rocks,” although songwriter Ian Hunter is British, his song could polarize the rest of the state.
