The 2024 Little League World Series concludes Sunday afternoon, with Florida and Chinese Taipei vying for the tournament title.
The team from Lake Mary, Florida, defeated Boerne, Texas, 10-7 in an entertaining U.S. championship game on Saturday afternoon. Lake Mary scored four runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth inning to overcome two separate deficits and book its ticket to the LLWS title game.
In the international category, Chinese Taipei defeated Venezuela 4-1 thanks to an outstanding pitching performance from starter Lai Cheng-Xi, who struck out 12 batters in 5 1/3 innings. The Kuei-Shan Little League, representing Taoyuan, Taiwan, avenged last year’s loss in the international championship.
The US representative has won the last five Little League World Series titles, but Florida is still waiting for its first outright victory. The team has lost the title game eight times.
Chinese Taipei is aiming for its 18th title; its last LLWS victory came in 1996.
