Resurfacing and bridge repairs on I-476 continue

SOUTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin resurfacing and bridge repairs on Interstate 476 next week, part of a $63.7 million project to improve nearly 17 miles of the interstate and its infrastructure.

From Sunday, August 25, through Thursday, August 29, southbound I-476 between the US 30 and Route 3 interchanges will have alternating lane closures for milling and paving operations. Northbound lanes between I-76 and Route 3 will also be closed for utility operations during the same time period.

In addition, there will be lane closures on East Rose Valley Road in Nether Providence from Monday, August 26th through Thursday, August 29th between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for bridge repairs.

Drivers are asked to expect delays and allow for longer travel times. All work is weather dependent.

This project includes milling and resurfacing lanes, repairing 49 structures, and improving stormwater detention basins. The goal of the initiative is to increase traffic safety and extend the life of the highway. H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, PA, is overseeing construction, which is being fully funded with federal funds and is expected to be completed in late 2025.
