Watch: Drake Maye completes incredible pass for first down despite losing his shoe in Patriots’ preseason finale: ‘The future GOAT is here’

The upcoming 2024 NFL season is just around the corner and Drake Maye is making sure he is working out very well in practice for the preseason games. The New England Patriots started their Sunday night by impressing everyone with their performance.

Although the offensive line struggled and fans didn’t appreciate it, it was Maye who drew the most attention with his incredible play. During the game, the video widely shared online showed teammate Sidy Sow stepping on the 21-year-old’s cleat.

The ball was then seen flying off the young Patriot’s foot and onto the turf. However, Maye did not let that stop him and continued running, rolling down the field and connecting with JaMycal Hasty, the running back, who gained 14 yards.

This impressed fans on social media and the video went viral for obvious reasons. NFL fans aren’t just praising him. One user wrote, “I’ve been told his foot game is terrible?”

Another said, “The next Brady.” Now that’s a very big compliment for the player.

Another commented: “Oh my god the future GOAT is here.”

One user, shocked that Mate was able to do it despite missing a shoe, wrote: “Without a shoe.”

One commented: “Drake Maye is the best player.”

Another: “He’s crazy”

And last but not least: “I love seeing this.”

Meanwhile, the player completed eight of his 12 passes. The game also included his 18-yard touchdown to Kevin Harris. In addition, he hit Ja’Lynn Polk, another rookie player, with a 29-yard play-action pass.

The rookie’s preseason ended yesterday and was impressive. The young quarterback managed 126 passing yards and a touchdown on 13 of 20 passes. And not only that: Against the Washington Commanders, he managed 17 yards on three rushing attempts.

Maye was selected third overall by the Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft. He played college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels. In college, Maye was named the 2022 ACC Football Player of the Year after the young rising star who led the NCAA in total yards.

The player set school records for most passing yards and touchdowns in a season, and after impressing everyone in college, Maye is now developing into an incredible rookie in the National Football League and is a huge hit with fans.

Meanwhile, the Patriots begin their regular season on September 8 against the Cincinnati Bengals. They will then face the Seattle Seahawks on September 15 and the New York Jets on September 20.

The team’s last game of the month will be on September 30th against the San Francisco 49ers before moving on to the October games. Maye has already been hailed by many as one of the best quarterbacks to have proven their skills since the end of the Tom Brady era.
