Who will make it to the finals? Our final prediction for the Vikings’ 53-man squad

Cutting Evans, who started 17 games over the past two years, might be too much for a secondary that relies on older veterans Gilmore and Griffin. But I’m not convinced Evans deserves a spot as coordinator Brian Flores moves to more man coverage. They need cornerbacks who can turn and make plays with the ball, which has rarely been Evans’ game. McGlothern, the undrafted rookie, also gets my approval after many spectacular plays. Moreau, 30, is likely the next man up after joining the team in the middle of training camp.

Goessling (5): Harrison Smith, Camryn Bynum, Josh Metellus, Theo Jackson, Jay Ward

Metellus and Jackson have improved enough to remove room for Lewis Cine, the first pick of Kwesi Adofo-Mensah’s tenure as general manager. If the Vikings can trade Cine, they will save $1.75 million in salary cap space. Ward has taken on some cornerback duties and could play there as well.

This is no surprise even if the Vikings release Cine, as we both predict. Cine could also be traded if the Vikings find a willing partner. He needs a fresh start, as his chances of making the team in Minnesota are nil.

Goessling (3): Will Reichard (K), Ryan Wright (P), Andrew DePaola (LS)
