Is there a better bacon, egg and cheese sandwich in Connecticut than in New York?

I grew up in New York, so if my 19-year-old self knew I was asking myself this question, I would have a huge argument with him. But I’ve lived in Connecticut for many years now, and I’ve learned that most (not all) residents of the Nutmeg State know how to make top-notch bacon, egg, and cheese.

Asking this question was not my idea, I recently came across a Connecticut Reddit Post where I found out that someone else had introduced this topic. CT Reddit User passes by iStealyournewspapers who wrote:

I grew up in Fairfield and have lived in NYC for about 18 years, and what frustrates me most is how much credit NYC gets for its deli breakfast sandwiches, when in general they are mediocre at best.

New York BECs: Low quality scrambled eggs, yellow American cheese (with a spicier flavor than white and generally better for burgers and chopped cheese), low quality bacon that is often under or over cooked (and can be turkey or beef bacon without warning), stale or low quality buns (or bagels, which I think get in the way of what makes these sandwiches great), hastily prepared without love. Even when it’s prepared correctly, in too many cases it’s just ok. I’ve never found a place here that I can really count on to be great every time, and I’ve never found a place that I would choose over all the places near me when I’m in CT.

CT BECs: Good quality fried eggs, white American cheese (much tastier and even has a slightly sweet note), consistently perfectly fried good quality bacon, always pork, fresh, soft buns, baked with love.

As I said, I’m from Fairfield, but I’ve never had a mediocre one anywhere I’ve been, and I get them many times throughout the year.

The Country Cow, The Tasty Yolk, Pine Creek Deli, Firehouse Deli, Reef Shack, the now closed S&S Dugout, Gruel Britannia, Harborview Market, and more that I may not have heard of. All have great sandwiches that taste the same every time, and some have really unique characteristics. The Tasty Yolk’s bun is mind-blowingly good and unique. Pine Creek Deli has “The Shredder” which is incredibly filling but insanely good. Gruel Britannia has their British take on breakfast sandwiches, but you still get a traditional one. Each place just seems to know what makes a good sandwich really good. By the way, feel free to recommend other great places in the area if you know of any.

I hate that the only places I’ve found that are really good in NYC are places where you have to sit down and tip the waiter. I also just find it sad that people in the city think they’re eating something so good and special when in reality they don’t know what they’re missing. People in NYC can be pretty arrogant about this too.

Does anyone else feel this way or am I the only one? I’ve never found a compelling reason why NYC is considered the best. There are just a huge number of places that do it and I think a lot of people who grew up here are just nostalgic for BEC Deli because that’s all they know.

At the end he added this amazing line: “The breakfast sandwiches in Connecticut are a taste orgasm, while the ones in NYC are like paying for boring sex in your car.”

Because of my broken ties between New York and Connecticut, I will join the proceedings and leave the question to you…

Hat City Group selects 10 of the best breakfast sandwiches/delis in the Danbury area

If you consider yourself a breakfast sandwich connoisseur, you know that a bad one will really upset you, so finding the right deli or breakfast spot is the most important thing. Most breakfast sandwich extremists know exactly where they go when they’re hungry in the morning, and they have their favorite spot. If necessary, they’ll take a detour to get there, and it’s worth every extra second.

Maybe you don’t have a favorite or your favorite no longer exists, maybe you’re new to the Danbury area and if so, you’ve come to the right place. I found a pretty comprehensive list of some of the best places in the Danbury area for a breakfast sandwich and it happened to be on the Danbury, CT Reddit page.

If you want someone to kick your ass, there are plenty of sites where you can find that. If you want honest, harsh, critical reviews, go to Reddit. If you find a positive review on Reddit, it’s because the recommended place is very good at what they do.

Someone like you (u/JansportStrings) was looking for breakfast on Sunday and posted, “Best breakfast sandwiches/delis in the area?” Below are the delis/restaurants he chose.

America’s Worst Pizza has 3 locations in Connecticut

Wall Street around the clock conducted a study to find America’s worst pizza. They scoured the internet for negative pizza reviews and compiled a list using the following method:

“We consulted pizza reviews from five different food blogs and websites. Given the subjective nature of pizza preferences, we only included pizza chains that consistently ranked in the lower range across multiple websites.”

After their investigation, it turns out that the title of Worst Pizza in America belongs to three places right here in Connecticut. Let’s count down from 5 to 1 as we reveal the state’s most disappointing pizzas and identify their locations.
