ADEL – Southwell Medical in Adel recently received accreditation as a center of excellence for minimally invasive gynecology.

Southwell Medical in Adel was recently accredited by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG). This accreditation recognizes Southwell Medical’s commitment and high standards in providing high quality patient care and safety.
Southwell Medical is the only hospital in the region to have received COEMIG accreditation from the SRC.
Accredited Centre of Excellence status means that Southwell Medical meets nationally and internationally recognised standards. Not all hospitals and surgeons seek accreditation; not all who undergo the rigorous inspection process receive accreditation.
Dr. Joe Clifton, a gynecologist at Southwell OB/GYN in Valdosta, performs all of his minimally invasive gynecological procedures in Adel at Southwell Medical. “This achievement underscores our mission to provide exceptional care using the most advanced techniques. I am so proud of our exceptional nursing and technical team who have created a unique surgical environment. Their efforts have now been validated by this prestigious accreditation,” said Dr. Clifton.
Healthcare facilities and surgeons seeking SRC accreditation undergo a comprehensive assessment and inspection process to ensure the applicant meets the SRC’s established standards and requirements. These requirements include surgical volume, facility equipment, clinical treatment workflows and standard operating procedures, a focus on patient education and continuous quality assessment. Inspectors train staff in accredited departments on best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.
