PS5 Pro was an open secret at Gamescom 2024, but what’s the point if you don’t have any exciting titles to look forward to?

It may feel like the PlayStation 5 only came out last year, and the rumors of a PS5 Pro are a bit early, but it’s been nearly four years since its launch, and while it hasn’t been as readily available after its launch date, the console is currently the reigning champion in the market.

But it’s that time again when gamers are wondering what Sony is planning next for its gaming system. Many expect the first announcements of a sixth generation to appear soon, but the next generation is still a long way off.

There are many rumors about PS5 Pro, but gamers want better titles first

Advancing technology could allow companies to launch consoles and systems that are far more powerful than previous generations. That’s why gaming companies try to have a range of games ready to launch with the console. The PlayStation 5 came with a similar tactic, and gamers hope the company will do the same with the PS5Pro.

Rumors about the next step in the PlayStation 5 journey have been further fueled by the company’s announcement that the console is entering the second phase of its lifecycle. Many believe that the PS5 Pro announcement is imminent, and Sony may be targeting the holiday season to launch its advanced system, something that was reportedly an open secret at Gamescom 2024.

However, some gamers are more focused on what the PS5 Pro has to offer than the console itself. Although it could theoretically run 4K at 60 FPS, due to rumors about its components that even the PC market does not haveit needs games that can exploit its strength.

Sony has yet to announce any titles that could exploit the full potential of such a system, and some gamers want those titles to be available before the company even thinks about launching the PS5 Pro.

Sony has been the leader in console hardware for some time now. Both Nintendo and Xbox are aiming for second place, but not many gamers are happy with Microsoft’s recent decisions. The company Announcement to bring cloud gaming to Amazon Fire devices was widely ridiculed for its sloppiness.

After Sony announced that its console was in the second half of its life cycle, people expected Microsoft to take this as motivation to start working on new hardware. However, the company has continued to make controversial decisions, such as launching exclusive titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle to the PlayStation.

Sony’s next console will likely widen the gap with Microsoft even further, and that gap may be too big to close. While Xbox can try to make the jump to the next generation and let Sony take this round, it remains to be seen whether gamers will find it a worthwhile investment if all exclusive titles eventually come to PlayStation.
