Walmart is pulling out all the stops to attract customers to its subscription membership program.
The retail giant announced last week that Walmart+ subscribers would receive a new perk for their memberships: 25% off Burger King orders made through the BK app. In addition to the discount, hungry shoppers can also score a free Whopper every quarter.
Walmart, which has 4,600 brick-and-mortar stores nationwide, launched its subscription program in 2020. Like competitor Amazon Prime, Walmart+ is designed to encourage shoppers to spend their money with the retailer.
Walmart+ subscribers have the option to pay either $12.95 per month or $98 for an annual membership. This payment entitles them to numerous perks, deals and benefits not available to regular Walmart shoppers.
From free shipping to gas discounts, here are some of the best perks Walmart+ offers.
Early access to offers and discounts
Walmart+ members get access to the chain’s deals before the general public. In addition to access to sales events like Black Friday, Walmart has a deals page with constantly changing special offers available only to paying members.
Free shipping and easy returns
Walmart+ subscribers receive free same-day grocery delivery on orders over $35, as well as free next-day and two-day shipping on purchases made on the Walmart website. Members can also skip the line when shopping in-store by paying through the Walmart app.
For members in eligible locations, Walmart+ allows returns from home. Instead of packing and shipping a return yourself, the retailer lets you select a time slot during which a delivery person will pick up the item from your home.
Paramount+ and Pluto TV
Members get free access to Paramount+ at no additional cost. The Essential Plan, which normally costs $7.99 per month, gives viewers access to more than 40,000 movies and shows, as well as NFL on CBS and UEFA Champions League games.
Pluto TV offers Walmart+ subscribers access to select ad-free shows and movies each month.
Cheaper prices at the petrol station
The benefits of Walmart+ don’t stop at the store. Members get 10 cents off every gallon of fuel they buy at Exxon and Mobile stations, and 5 to 10 cents off every gallon of fuel they buy at Walmart and Murphy’s stations. In total, the discounted gas is available at more than 14,000 stations nationwide.
