OnePlus users are struggling with a new hardware issue that is rendering their device unusable and resulting in a hefty repair bill.

OnePlus is back in the news for a worrying reason. Previously, the company had revised its free display replacement program to include newer models like the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OnePlus 11. But now, some of these devices are facing the dreaded defective motherboard issue, for which users are charging a lot of money.

This week, there were several complaints in reports about broken OnePlus devices for which the company charged a hefty repair bill that was far more than the actual value of the devices.

OnePlus problems persist

OnePlus 9 and 10 Pro users are most affected by this issue and say that this problem started after downloading a software update. The person was then told by the OnePlus service repair team that replacing the faulty motherboard would cost Rs 42,000, which is almost the price of a new OnePlus 10 Pro device.

The angry user even shared his complaint on the OnePlus community forum, where he described the ordeal and explained what the company wants him to do with the broken device. The person feels that the brand is not providing proper support when it comes to these issues, which could become a problem in the long run as it could discourage more people from buying OnePlus phones in the country.

OnePlus has not made any official statement or assurance regarding these issues, but if the issue with the broken device becomes widespread, the brand will have no choice but to step in and offer support that won’t cost them a lot of money. The company has previously caved in to public pressure and offered free screen replacement services for the alleged green line issue caused by previous software updates.

If the brand believes that the new defective motherboard is also caused by such updates, it will likely offer extended support for the affected devices, regardless of how many consumers are affected. Resolving these issues and working well with retailers was on OnePlus’ to-do list for 2024, and it is crucial that all issues are resolved as soon as possible.
