Apple has been largely tight-lipped about its CarPlay plans recently, but adoption of the phone mirroring system remains high and most automakers, with the exception of the usual ones (General Motors, Tesla and Rivian), still stick with the platform.

Therefore, CarPlay remains very attractive to software developers who need to update their apps to support the Apple experience and appeal to the growing number of users.

The most recent adopter of this strategy is the developer of Superwhisper, an application that many people are only now discovering and are excited about its advanced nature.

Superwhisper has a very simple purpose, but the way it gets the job done is impressive. The application can convert voice notes into any format you want and convert speech into text using the power of AI, from understanding what you’re saying to punctuation and formatting.

Superwhisper allows anyone to create emails, messages and documents using their voice. As long as you speak loudly and clearly, it’s a fantastic assistant to help you get your work done.

As of the latest update, Superwhisper brings its suite of features to CarPlay, allowing users to convert speech to text while sitting in the car. However, CarPlay support doesn’t include a dedicated app interface that you can launch from the infotainment screen, as Superwhisper is designed to use your car’s microphone to let you speak your text into the app running on your iPhone.

In addition to CarPlay support, the application has also received other goodies and should now work seamlessly with Bluetooth headphones. It includes options to pause and resume recording, as well as a keyboard, although this feature is still in its infancy and is marked as beta.

The good news is that the number of apps on CarPlay continues to grow ahead of the second generation’s debut. Apple announced CarPlay 2.0 nearly two years ago, but the debut hasn’t happened yet. Two automakers, Porsche and Aston Martin, have confirmed the launch of the new generation of CarPlay, but neither has launched a car with the improved experience.

Apple is expected to unveil the next-generation iPhone in September, and CarPlay 2.0 will likely be unveiled at that event. Representatives from Porsche and Aston Martin could be at the show and detail the integration of CarPlay into their cars. Apple is also expected to unveil other brands that will use the updated experience.

Superwhisper is a free application that includes several pro plans to unlock all the features. However, the app is also available for a one-time payment of $250. A monthly subscription is available for $8.49. The application works on any iPhone running at least iOS 16 and also offers support for Apple Vision.
