While Apple is expected to announce the AirPods 4 at its special event next month, the company is also working on new AirPods Pro. A new rumor out today says the AirPods Pro 3 will offer “much better” active noise cancellation and will launch “soon.”
Today’s rumor comes from Kosutami on social media, who has previously reported precise details about yet-to-be-released Apple products and accessories.
AirPods Pro feature an in-ear design with rubber tips that fit in your ear and create a seal that allows for improved noise cancellation. Today’s rumor suggests AirPods Pro 3 will feature improved “digital ANC” performance, suggesting the improvements will primarily come from improvements to software and audio processing rather than changes to the AirPods Pro design.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has also covered Apple’s plans for the next generation of AirPods Pro in detail. According to Gurman, the AirPods Pro 3 will launch sometime in 2025 and will offer new health features, a new audio chip, and more. Today’s rumor says the AirPods Pro 3 will launch “soon,” but with no further timeline.
Notably, Apple also plans to add noise-cancelling to a version of the AirPods 4, which is expected to be announced at the “It’s Glowtime” special event on September 9. In his post today, Kosutami reiterates this expectation.

I am excited to see how this develops. AirPods Pro 2 already offer excellent Noise cancellation compared to many other in-ear earbuds on the market. Any upgrades Apple can make will only further enhance the AirPods Pro offering.
I also wonder if these improvements could also be included in a future version of the AirPods Max, as the changes are expected to be made possible primarily by improvements in audio processing. I’m a huge fan of the AirPods Max, but currently the new version coming out this year is not expected to offer any improvements other than a switch to USB-C for charging.
