Recommendations from the Beauty Editor: Issue “My hair needs to grow back”

Once upon a time, in a world not so long ago, my hair cascaded down my back like a majestic waterfall. A waterfall that had unfortunately gone through a drought. Yes, it was long—long enough to be the envy of any Disney princess, but unfortunately it had the texture of a neglected broomstick that had been swept through one too many dusty corners. So I went to the hairdresser expecting a trim, a little here, a little there, a little there. But what did I get instead? A haircut. A proper, unabashed haircut. You know how they show you an inch between their fingers and then chop off three? Yes, that.

Don’t get me wrong, my hair is healthier than ever – shiny, bouncy and free of split ends. But it’s also shorter than ever and we all know what that means. It’s time to start Operation “Growth”Here’s the arsenal I use to grow my hair long again—products that promise to take my strands from shoulder-length to waist-length, and bring a healthy dose of humor along the way.

Ouai scalp serum

If my scalp were a garden, this serum would be the Miracle-Gro. It’s the kind of product that makes you feel like a mad scientist as you dribble it onto your scalp and massage it in, hoping that your hair follicles get the message: We need growth, and we need it now.

Forest Essentials Ayurvedic Herb-Enriched Head Massage Oil

When I need to get back to my roots – literally – this oil is my go-to. With a blend of herbs like Bhringraj and Amla, it’s like a warm hug for my scalp, promoting hair growth and keeping my hair healthy from within.

Now that we’ve covered the essentials, let’s talk about the other stuff – because beautiful hair doesn’t just happen by magic. It’s about consistency, patience, and a little self-care. Regular trimming (just a little, not cutting – I’m not going back to the same guy), a balanced diet, plenty of water, and yes, a good night’s sleep all help keep hair healthy and growing. And don’t forget to give your hair some love with an occasional scalp massage or hair mask – because ultimately, your hair is like a plant and needs a little TLC to grow. So, let’s get started – long, luscious locks are just a few good habits (and great products) away. If you’d like to join me in this operation, say “Operation Regrowth” in my DMs and let’s grow it back together.
