IK Group announces the launch of Norclamp to meet growing demand for subsea pipeline repairs

IK Group, a leading engineering company specializing in products and services that ensure the safe integrity of pipeline systems, today announced the formation of Norclamp, a new company dedicated to meeting the growing demand for subsea pipeline repairs.

In response to the increasing need for maintenance solutions in the field of subsea pipeline repair, IK Group has strategically separated its repair clamps business from IK Subsea and established Norclamp. This forward-looking move ensures that Norclamp can focus exclusively on high-quality, standardized clamps for the maintenance of pipelines and production systems.

Norclamp’s products build on the IK Group’s heritage of groundbreaking innovation in the subsea sector. The company’s flagship product line is ready for market and includes three different standardized clamps: the Split Clamp, the Compact Clamp and the industry’s first Infinity Clamp. These clamps are designed for versatility and offer various sizes and pressure rating options. Norclamp’s focus on standardization is characterized by a significant reduction in delivery times and costs, making the entire product range available for emergency delivery.

The demand to extend the life of ageing power line infrastructure through maintenance and repair is expected to steadily increase in the coming decades. Net Zero 2050 initiatives encourage the industry to preserve existing investments from the last century rather than reinvest in new infrastructure.

In addition, as the energy transition progresses, it will be increasingly necessary to upgrade existing pipeline infrastructure for carbon capture, transport and storage (CCS) and ultimately for hydrogen supply – crucial steps towards a decarbonised society.

Norclamp is estimated to create between 50 and 75 jobs. IK Group remains committed to investing in and supporting exploration and production companies in this transition. Norclamp will play an important role in this effort, working with E&P companies and the wider service industry to help achieve the Net Zero 2050 goals.

“We have started this journey and will work tirelessly to support the change,” said Eirik Berge, CEO of IK Group. “Join us – let’s do it together.”
