Drake’s mansion in Toronto is threatened by severe flooding after torrential rains

Drake’s huge Toronto mansion was hit by massive flooding on Tuesday after torrential rain hit the Canadian city.

The rapper posted footage on Instagram of ankle-deep muddy water crashing onto a floor of his home with the caption, “Hopefully that’s an espresso martini.” A young man dressed in black can be seen trying to close a door while Drake, holding a broom in one hand and a camera in the other, unsuccessfully tries to keep Mother Nature at bay in the deep water.

Drake’s 4,600-square-foot mansion in the city’s Bridle Path neighborhood was recently the scene of a drive-by shooting. The Canadian rap star was unharmed and cooperated with the police investigation.

Before he built the palatial estate, Drake’s primary residence in Toronto was on the 52nd floor of a high-rise, which would have protected him from the big summer storm. Many major commuter routes were underwater and the city was busy cleaning up after a record-breaking 10 centimetres of rain fell during a late-morning downpour on Tuesday, according to Environment Canada.

In addition to flooded homes, many motorists were left stranded when major highways such as the Don Valley Parkway were underwater after an adjacent river burst its banks. The city’s film studios reported no major flooding or power outages. Many of them are located in the Portlands of Toronto and are locations for original film and television shoots for U.S. studios and streamers.

At times, around 135,000 residents of the city were without electricity.
