Ludacris debates whether Virgos are better in August or September

Virgo is all about the facts and Ludacris lives true to his sun sign.

The 46-year-old rapper, born on September 11, took to Instagram on August 23 to jokingly explain the difference between August and September Virgos, as the zodiac season officially began on August 22.

In the video, he gives his followers a humorous view of the “differences” between both individuals, clearly preferring September Virgos like himself.

“Virgos in August bring a dynamic mix of expressiveness and practicality, influenced by the energies of the Leo-Virgo cusp,” said the rapper. “Virgos in September, on the other hand, are characterized by careful organization and analytical skills and benefit from the influence of Mercury.”

Not bad, Luda! Virgos are actually ruled by the wise Mercury, making them one of, if not the, most analytical and methodical signs of the zodiac. Not surprisingly, the rapper, whose real name is Chris Bridges, was born with a Virgo sun and Mercury himself.

However, in astrology, there is no such thing as a “cusp.” Each sign occupies 30 degrees in the zodiac—between zero and 29 degrees. So if your birthday falls near the end of an astrological season, you are not a “cusp.” The Sun was either passing through the last degree of a sign (29) or the first degree (zero) at the time of your birth.

“What I’m really trying to say,” the rapper jokes, “is that August Virgos never shut up and don’t really care about other people’s opinions or thoughts on anything.” He continues, “September Virgos are relatively quiet in a new environment and are good listeners, a little stubborn, but they try to build more connection with others.”

Is there actually a difference between August and September Virgos? The short answer is yes, but the reasons are more complicated. Just as the elements and modalities divide the signs into different groups, each zodiac sign has three decans that offer deeper insight into your astrological characteristics. These decans divide the 30 degrees of each zodiac sign into 10-degree segments, each ruled by a different planet.

Virgos born between August 23 and September 2 belong to the first decan, ruled by Mercury. Those born between September 3 and 12 belong to the second decan, ruled by Saturn. Finally, Virgos born between September 13 and 22 belong to the third decan, ruled by Venus.

Ludacris was born with his Sun at 19 degrees of Virgo, so the rapper would be surprised to learn that his birth at the end of the second decan of Virgo – that is, between 10 and 20 degrees of this mutable sign – means that his Virgo nature is more Saturnian than mercurial, thanks to his sub-ruler Saturn. This means that the rapper falls into the decan of Virgos, who are more ambitious and strict.

And what is his most typical Virgo trait? Ludacris told PEOPLE exclusively that it’s “overthinking.”

“That’s definitely the best. That’s my Virgo trait. I overthink everything. Sometimes you just have to let it go. But my overthinking can sometimes be a good thing and sometimes a bad thing. It can hinder progress and often it can be the ally of progress. It has two reasons.”

There is no denying that the rapper is a mutable sign, as they are smart and versatile. When asked if there was another sign he would like to be a Virgo, he stuck to his opinion.

“Oh no. Absolutely not. I would never go against my Virgo brothers and sisters like that and even remotely say I would like to be a different sign,” he says. “No, I can’t. I wouldn’t do that to my Virgo family. That would be cheating.”

This is no surprise, as earth signs are considered incredibly loyal, and Virgo’s devotion and duty are no exception.

“If I even remotely told you I wanted to be a different sign, the entire Virgo nation and community would disown me,” the rapper added. “I definitely don’t want that. I love being a Virgo. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
