Today I have to go out

QUINCY (WGEM) — A high pressure system originating in Canada will settle into our region today. It will linger over our area through Sunday. I think most of us will be very appreciative of this high pressure system as it will be responsible for some spectacular August days with below normal temperatures.

Morning temperatures have dropped to 10 degrees. Dew points have dropped from 18 to 20 degrees to 10 to 12 degrees. These factors make for a very refreshing morning that feels a little crisp. Skies will remain clear with relatively light winds from the north/northwest. Throughout the day, skies will remain sunny to mostly sunny. Some thin clouds are expected aloft from time to time, but we’ll still have plenty of sunshine. Northwest winds will pick up a bit. Sustained winds of 5 to 15 mph and gusts of 20 to 25 mph are forecast. Highs will only reach the mid 70s. These temperatures are more typical for mid to late September. A gorgeous day to enjoy either way! Whether you can get outside to do chores, take a walk, or just drive around with the windows down. It would even be a good day to possibly turn off the A/C and open some windows.

Tonight, skies will be clear to mostly clear. Nighttime lows will be a little cooler, at 10 to 12 degrees. So those are the temperatures we’ll start with tomorrow. If you’re heading out in the morning to run errands or visit a local farmers market, you might need a hoodie or sweater. It’ll be a mostly sunny day, but skies may be a little cloudy for brief periods. Highs will be a little warmer than today. Most will be above 25 degrees, but some places may reach 27. That’s still below normal for this time of year.
