Spartan Staff brings atmosphere

SUPERIOR, Wis. – While most back-to-school events are designed to get students excited about returning to the classroom, the Superior School District is getting its teachers and staff in the mood.

Faculty from all of Superior’s schools gathered at the high school to mingle, eat, and have Olympic-themed fun. Dressed in their respective schools’ costumes, staff competed in games to remind them of the focus of the upcoming school year: “Have fun.”

“Today we welcome all of our staff, our principals and our teachers to their first day of the 24-25 school year,” said Superintendent Amu Starzecki.

The event gave staff a chance to network with their colleagues at other schools, something Bryant principal Jason Kalin said is difficult to do while classes are in session.

“I come back here and see all my old colleagues,” Kalin said. “It’s just fun to rekindle those friendships and see a lot of people I haven’t seen in a long time. It’s just a great start. It’s a smooth transition into a new school year where we can pat each other on the back and wish each other good luck.”

Starting the Tuesday after Labor Day, classes will begin again for students in the Superior School District.
