The John Cooper School opens a state-of-the-art sports centre

The John Cooper School is delighted to announce its new state-of-the-art Sports Centre, a major milestone in enhancing sporting opportunities and community engagement.

Centrally located in the school’s athletic complex, adjacent to Pugh Field and Dunlap Gym, Cooper students, faculty, staff and families can now enjoy a new, modern facility with over 25,000 square feet of space, complete with additions and upgrades to support student-athletes.

The John Cooper School Athletic Center includes an expansive training room, dynamic team room, and 3,000-square-foot weight room. There is also a fitness center and cheerleading studio, and four locker rooms with 300 lockers.

This facility is designed to support all Cooper students. The new athletic facility complements Cooper’s dynamic arts buildings and modern college preparatory environment. Additionally, Cooper has installed a new track surface for the Pate Track and Field, new artificial turf for Pugh Field, expanded seating for families and visitors, and a new digital scoreboard.

“The Cooper community is excited to celebrate the opening of our new athletic center,” said Dr. Stephen Popp, head of the John Cooper School. “This facility represents our commitment to providing exceptional resources to our students and fostering a strong sense of community in The Woodlands.”
