Philadelphia Eagles place Albert Okwuegbunam on injured list

After the Eagles waived EJ Jenkins and placed Albert Okwuegbunam on the injured list, they will likely have only two tight ends on the 53-man roster.

Jeff McLane of The Inquirer reports that the tight end will be out for nearly two months after undergoing sports hernia surgery.

Philadelphia signed Okwuegbunam from Denver after the final 2023 preseason game, in which the versatile tight end caught seven passes for 109 yards and a touchdown. But the Broncos didn’t have room for him on their roster, so they made a deal with the Eagles.

Philadelphia traded a 2025 sixth-round pick and a 2025 seventh-round pick with the Broncos last August and chose not to use the pass catcher at all in previous seasons under offensive coordinator Brian Johnson.

Okweugbunam, a fourth-round pick from Missouri, was targeted just once in four games last season and did not have a single catch.
