Sadie Sink previews Max’s role in Stranger Things season 5: “They love to let me run”

And although she was rescued by her close friend Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), she was left in a comatose state and doctors are apparently unsure if she will ever wake up.

And although we now know that Sink will will return for season 5, there is no confirmation yet as to what role Max will play in the final version.

However, in a recent interview with Variety, actress Sink and series creators Matt and Ross Duffer dropped some cryptic hints about Max’s return.

When asked if the fact that Sink is still filming is proof that Max has come out of his coma, Sink simply replied, “They love to make me run.”

What that means remains to be seen, as Sink confirmed that this is “all” she will say on the subject.

However, it seems that Max will make her mark on the season, as Matt Duffer confirmed, “She will play a role.”

Ross Duffer, however, did not want to give too much away and added: “But we do not want to give away how this is possible.”

But Matt Duffer later said: “We shot a scene with (Sink) the other day that was just absolutely heartbreaking. I don’t know how she hits those notes.”

On Stranger Things Day last year, the Duffer brothers released the first line of the script for season 5 on X.

The line read: “Darkness. The sound of cold wind. Creaking trees. And… a child’s voice. Singing a familiar song.”

Many believe that the song mentioned could be “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush, which ultimately didn’t save Max (Sadie Sink) from succumbing to Vecna, but could keep her alive should she find herself in another dimension.

Could this be the “running” that Sink was talking about? We’ll just have to wait and see…

It’s safe to say that Stranger Things fans can’t wait to find out more! Let’s all just hope that Max has better luck this time.
