Regional libraries promote registration for a library card

The Parkland Regional Library System, which includes the regional libraries in Stetler, Castor and Bashaw, is holding a contest in September and October to encourage community residents to complete or renew their memberships.

To get a library card, all you need to do is go to your local library with proof of address and request a card.

“Purchasing a library membership is quick and easy and gives you access to vast collections of books, movies, magazines, games and more,” said a press release announcing the contest.

“Once everything is set up, library staff will help you enter a drawing to win one of five $100 Visa gift cards or one of four $50 Visa gift cards.”

Winners will be drawn and announced in November. Prizes can be picked up at the winner’s local library.

“With the countless events, programs, technologies and digital resources offered, there really is no better time to join the library.”

The Parkland Regional Library System is hosting the contest in celebration of Canadian Library Month, which takes place in October.

“Canadian Library Month is an initiative of the Canadian Federation of Libraries.”

The Parkland Regional Library System was established in 1959 and supports 49 public libraries serving 64 communities in central Alberta.
