Five things: August 28, 2024

28 August 2024 · 9:27 am

1. Did you know that there is a drum circle every Sunday in Malcolm X Park, also known as Meridian Hill Park, on the border of Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights? It’s been years since I last went to one, and I actually didn’t know they still existed until I heard about it last weekend while walking nearby after running an errand in the area. Every week, people get together to drum and dance, and others might juggle, do yoga nearby, or enjoy a picnic on the large grassy area. It starts every Sunday at 3 p.m. and goes until 5 p.m. All ages are welcome.

2. The grand finale of Movies on the Pitch, the open-air cinema series at Audi Field this summer, is tomorrow, August 29th, at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a special screening of Wonka for this final episode. Gates open at 6:30pm, with concessions available throughout the evening. Tickets are free with reservation and general admission to both the pitch and the stands is on a first come, first served basis.

3. There’s a brand new KFDC roundup of live entertainment coming to the DC area over the next few months!

4. Lots of great early Labor Day deals: Wayfair up to 70% off, Backcountry up to 60% off, Janie & Jack up to 70% off, Zappos shoes and more up to 60% off, Aviator Nation 40% off, Anthro 40% off, Gap 40-50% off (including lots of great kids stuff!), Crate & Barrel up to 60% off.

5. In case you haven’t seen it yet… major life update.
