Trump releases fourth digital trading card set, mixed reactions

Donald Trump has launched a fourth set of digital trading cards, including 50 new Polygon-based NFT cards priced at $99 each.

Titled the “America First” collection, the NFTs depict Trump in a range of intriguing situations and costumes – similar to previous Trump digital trading cards – and several package deals are available, including perks such as dinner and cocktails with Trump, signed Trump sneakers, physical trading cards featuring a piece of the fabric from Trump’s suit at the June 27 presidential debate, and more.

Reactions were mixed: Trump opponents denounced the collection as a desperate fundraising attempt, while Trump supporters praised it – although one well-known influencer who bought the collection was not impressed after reading the terms of service.

What are digital Trump trading cards?

Releasing in December 2022, the Trump Digital Trading Cards are a series of polygon-based NFTs featuring the former president in various outfits and situations.

The cards primarily allowed Trump to collect money from his supporters and secure unique perks in return. The most valuable of these was the opportunity to have dinner with Trump in previous releases, and this offer continues in the latest Season 4 release.

In addition to opportunities to meet him in person, buyers could receive a number of other perks with special packages or enter a drawing to receive them, including signed sneakers, autographed trading cards, pieces of his suits and ties from his performances, and much more.

What were the reactions?

Reactions to Trump’s fourth digital trading card collection, titled “America First,” were mixed.

Proud Trump supporter and influencer @notthreadguy purchased $25,000 worth of Spaces tickets from the latest edition on Twitter yesterday, expecting a guaranteed opportunity for dinner and cocktails with Trump.

However, upon reading the terms of service – and noting that it had to be a single transaction paid in cryptocurrency – it turned out that he only had a 25/250 (10%) chance of securing the best dinner and cocktail package, prompting him to say he would be “logging off for a few days”.
