Free mini golf and carousel rides kick off Pottstown’s big auto show weekend

POTTSTOWN – If you plan to spend Labor Day weekend at home in the Pottstown area, you will have no shortage of things to do, especially if you like cars.

On Friday, the European Auto Show organizers have reserved both Manatawny Green Mini-Golf and the Carousel in Pottstown for the L’oe Show for free carousel rides and mini-golf from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Food trucks will be on hand to provide refreshments. Both facilities can be accessed from West High Street or West King Street.

On Saturday morning, Pottstown FARM will be back in the Smith Family Plaza, next to City Hall in the 100 block of High Street, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Later Saturday, the final Pottstown Nights Car Show of the year, sponsored by the Red Horse Motoring Club, will close down downtown High Street from College Drive to Evans Street for their monthly car show. This is your last chance this year to enjoy their closed street show in town.

And on Sunday, the 2024 L’oe (‘low’) Show will take over High Street from College Drive to Evans Street here in Pottstown for the fourth time from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Food trucks will be present at all downtown events and downtown restaurants will also be open.

The L’oe Show features events and pop-ups on the High Street from Thursday evening to Sunday, however the car show and closing time take place on Sunday.

The organizers promise more than 40 dealers and shops as well as 600 vehicles from the Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche brands.

There are several pre-events before the big show on Sunday, starting with an event on Thursday from 4pm to 9pm at the SlyFox Brewery in the Circle of Progress.

On Friday there is a fun bike ride at Talking Pace starting at 7:30am at 843 Queen Street. The ride is 18 miles long and completely flat. It is mostly fine gravel trail but participants will ride road bikes and classic mountain bikes. There will then be a brunch event from 10am to 12pm at Coventry Parlor, 653 Laurelwood Road in North Coventry.

On Saturday, there will be a relaxed “Cars and Coffee” from 10 a.m. to noon at the North Coventry Fire House, 144 W. Schuylkill Road, with plenty of parking and food options.

Head to the Eastwood Company World Headquarters at 263 Shoemaker Road from 12:00pm to 2:30pm. There is plenty of parking and the retail store will be open with special offers.

Food trucks will be present at all downtown events and downtown restaurants will also be open.

Many special prototypes and racing cars were on display at Sunday’s L’oe Show, and there were even world-exclusive reveals of never-before-seen cars.

Previous cars included the US unveiling of the Mk8 Golf R, the VW Golf A59 from Volkswagen Classic’s collection in Wolfsburg, the global unveiling of the Volkswagen Motorsport TCR Mk8 prototype, Audi’s Le Mans-winning LMP1 car (Tom Kristensen’s record-breaking car) and more.
