Drake draws attention to unreleased collaboration with Kendrick Lamar while controversy looms

drake heats up his dispute with Kendrick Lamar by announcing a collaboration with the Los Angelino native that never saw the light of day.

Deep in the archives of Drizzy’s “100 Gigs” websiteA fan discovered an old clip of the 37-year-old artist and his trusty producer Noah “40” Shebib in the studio playing a “crazy” beat that Drake wanted Kendrick to cover. In the short video, both hitmakers can be seen rocking out to the instrumental.

“I know where he is, he’s going to get this shit done,” Drake said.

“When you told me, Kendrick, it just made so much sense,” 40 replied. “Oh, how brilliant! So good.”

The clip comes from Drake’s studio sessions for his Nothing was as before album. In case you are wondering, no, the collaboration never happened. The beat from 40 in the video ended up with Action Bronsonwho used it for his song “Actin’ Crazy” from the 2015 album Mr. WonderfulDrake and Kendrick Lamar had already worked together twice before the studio session in question.

In addition to this clip, fans also noticed another potentially shady video included in “100 Gigs.” In the OVO Fest 2013 folder, there is a video of several people backstage, including The Weeknd. By this point, the Canadian-born artists had already worked together on numerous songs. In the video, however, Drake can be seen greeting everyone in the room before acknowledging Abel’s presence.

It’s not clear what Drake’s intentions were in including both clips in the content dump, but at this point fans have their own theories. The massive trove of behind-the-scenes footage also includes his newly released tracks “SOD”, “Circadian Rhythm” and “No Face” with Playboi Cartiin which he apparently fuels rumors of a runoff election with K.Dot.
