The Mark Cuban Foundation has announced a collaboration with New Hampshire-based Skillsoft’s Codecademy, an online tech skills learning platform. The partnership will provide free Codecademy Pro subscriptions to high school students enrolled with the foundation who complete its free AI-centric in-person AI bootcamps in November.
The foundation said the relationship further expands access to coding and AI education for underserved high school students. By offering free Codecademy Pro subscriptions, the foundation and Codecademy are providing the educational tools and resources needed to develop essential technology, AI and coding skills for the future.
“This collaboration with Codecademy reflects our shared commitment to educating students who are underrepresented in tech careers,” Mark Cuban said in a statement. “Once students gain foundational skills in AI in our bootcamps, they can build on that and gain free access to Codecademy courses used in many in-demand career paths. Our relationship will create a pipeline for future innovation, because preparing young minds today is an investment in the leaders of tomorrow.”
According to the foundation, Codecademy Pro subscriptions give students access to rich, interactive learning experiences to develop AI, prompt engineering, data science, coding, cloud, security and professional skills, among others. Codecademy Pro offers more than 600 courses, skill paths and guided career paths, as well as tools such as personalized exercises and projects to build hands-on experience, the foundation said.
“As the technology industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace, it is critical to equip the next generation with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. Our partnership with the Mark Cuban Foundation is an important step in democratizing access to high-quality AI and coding education,” said Apratim Purakayastha, GM of Talent Development Solutions at Skillsoft, in a statement. “Together, we encourage and empower young adults to pursue careers in the technology industry and contribute to a highly skilled and innovative workforce.”
The foundation said Codecademy’s interactive environment allows learners to run code directly in their browsers and receive instant feedback to better assess and improve their skills. It said students could also access AI support, earn certificates and connect with a global community of learners.
