Popeyes introduces 2 new limited-time menu items – including Chocolate Chip Biscuits

Popeyes has introduced two new limited-time menu items for customers to enjoy as summer comes to a close. The two menu items are on the sweet side – a nice complement to the recent savory menu items. Let’s take a look at what we know about the new offerings.

Popeyes’ limited edition menu items

According to Allrecipes, the chicken chain has added Chocolate Chip Biscuits to its lineup. In an email to the outlet, the brand said the new product “combines the beloved flavors of the iconic Buttermilk Biscuit with delicious chocolate chips for a delicious treat.” For an extra-sumptuous breakfast, lunch or dessert, the famously soft, buttery biscuits are studded with rich chocolate chips and covered in a dollop of frosting.

In addition, Popeyes is introducing a brand new Apple Caramel Cheesecake, which seems to be the ideal way to ring in fall.

The ultimate creamy, buttery, fall-flavored bite, this rich and creamy cheesecake is baked in a traditional graham cracker crust and topped with a caramel apple filling.

Starting August 5, Chocolate Chip Biscuits and Apple Caramel Cheesecake will be available for a limited time at select locations nationwide, so don’t hesitate to stop by the Popeyes drive-thru if you’re craving some fall sweets.

Popular Instagram blogger Snackolator immediately posted about the limited-time menu items, noting that he “would need both of them immediately!” Additionally, Delish had the chance to get a taste of both dishes and gave both rave reviews (though the outlet preferred the Chocolate Chip Biscuit over the Cheesecake Biscuit).


Sweet vs. savory

These Popeyes offerings are the latest from the fast-food chain, which has previously offered new savory dishes. Specifically, the fast-food chain announced that it would permanently add five new chicken wing flavors to its menu.

Last November, the chain said customers nationwide could enjoy Popeyes’ signature hot wings, roasted garlic parmesan and honey barbecue. The popular wings from earlier this year, Ghost Pepper and Sweet N’Spicy, will still be offered. These wings are competitively priced at $5.99 for a six-pack.

Sami Siddiqui, president of Popeyes North America, clarified that the company’s decision to introduce wings was a response to consistent customer demand rather than a lame marketing strategy.

“In January, when we sold our Ghost Pepper Wing, the demand was incredible,” the then-president said. “The offer was supposed to run for about six weeks. And we sold out in two weeks. It was actually the most successful product and the most successful results since the infamous chicken sandwich.”

Siddiqui further revealed that the biggest commercial success since the launch of the company’s famous chicken sandwich came from a later launch with a sweet and spicy sauce. When that sandwich first hit the market in 2019, it caused a stir in the fast-food industry: people flocked to restaurants and stocks sold out within two weeks. When the sandwich was put back on the menu, Popeyes’ overall sales increased.

Popeyes has added these five flavors to its lineup permanently to strengthen its position in the wings market after gauging consumer response to its wings. Given the wings’ comparatively low price, Siddiqui expected a strong response, although he did not believe the fervor for the wings could match the passion for the chicken sandwich’s launch. With customers increasingly concerned about their budgets, the fast-food chain is also capitalizing on the success of other chains that have recently introduced chicken wings.
