Drillship “Mammad Suleymanov” completes major overhaul at Bibiheybat ship repair facility

The geological exploration drilling vessel “Mammad Suleymanov”, part of the Caspian Sea oil fleet operated by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), has successfully undergone a major overhaul at the Bibiheybat Ship Repair Plant.

The ship’s extensive repairs included a complete cleaning and refurbishment of the underwater and surface parts of the hull, as well as repairs to the steering complex, bottom and side fittings and treadle devices. Damaged parts of the hull and interiors were replaced and the ship was repainted.

After the overhaul, the ship underwent sea trials and was subsequently certified by the classification register.

The repair work also included the overhaul of the vessel’s main engine, anchor winch, mast arrangements, water-oil coolers and various piping systems. In addition, three new diesel generators, an air compressor and an oil separator were installed. The crane boom lifeboat tests were carried out and electrical systems, including controls, protection and lighting, were repaired.

The living conditions of the employees were also improved. This included modernization of the canteen, sanitary facilities, rest rooms and cabins. A new container was set up specifically for the geological exploration employees.

The vessel “Mammad Suleymanov” is used for geological exploration at sea depths of up to 150 meters, including taking rock samples from the seabed.
