Watch “When were Sammy Kershaw & Wayne Toups in Nashville” now

From time to time we scour the internet for cool videos about Louisiana and the artists from the Bayou State. We think we found a cool video of two of Louisiana’s most well-known artists to share with you.

We are, of course, talking about Sammy Kershaw and Wayne Toups. Sammy is from Kaplan, Louisiana, while Wayne Toups was born in Crowley, Louisiana. Sammy is known for his country music, while Wayne is known as the king of Cajun, Zydeco, and Louisiana-based musical sounds.

Sammy had great success with hits such as “Queen Of My Doublewide Trailer,” “Yard Sale,” “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful,” “Vidalia,” and others. Wayne is known for hits such as “Take My Hand,” “Tupelo Honey,” “Please Explain,” “Staining In The Rain,” “That’s What I Love About My Baby,” “Free Me,” and more.

You may not know this, but Sammy and Wayne have known each other for years and have even performed together a time or two. Let’s take you back to 1996 when Sammy Kershaw and Wayne Toups both happened to be booked on the same night on the television show Nashville Now.

In the video, Sammy is already out on set when Wayne is introduced and the two start talking about their gig at the Cowboy’s Night Club in Lafayette and how they met and how their paths crossed. It’s a cool video. Check it out.
