Labor Day weekend at Delaware beaches: weather, activities

play

It’s Labor Day weekend on the beaches of Delaware.

Summer will end with a New Orleans-style funeral on the Bethany Beach boardwalk as the kids go back to school and the lifeguards go back to college. As long as the warm weather holds, there will still be plenty of people out and about, but after Labor Day, the atmosphere on Delaware’s beaches is noticeably different.

There’s still a long weekend left to enjoy summer to the fullest, and it’s going to be a beautiful weekend. Read on to find out everything you need to know if you’re going to be on the beaches of Delaware.

Beach Weather in Delaware

“The last weekend before Labor Day weekend will be great, especially if you’re heading to the coast or beaches of Delaware,” said a tweet from the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

Kudos to you for distinguishing between “the coast” and “the beaches of Delaware.”

The weather will be excellent indeed. Temperatures will be between 21 and 25 degrees, the National Weather Service predicts, and skies will be sunny. There is a slight chance of storms on Sunday and Monday mornings.

Joe Biden alert in the Rehoboth Beach area

Speaking of Biden, the president is in town at his beach house on the North Shores. He, his wife Jill and his son Hunter arrived Sunday evening. How long they will stay is unknown.

Normally, only Farview Road, where the Bidens’ home is located, is closed. When the First Family sets out, they will be accompanied by the Secret Service and there will be temporary closures and traffic delays.

Since becoming president, the Bidens have frequently visited St. Edmond’s Roman Catholic Church and biked along Gordon’s Pond Trail, less frequently going to the beach or out to eat.
