Pokimane quits ‘embarrassing’ celebrity dating app after being waitlisted

Twitch sensation Pokimane opened up about her dating life and how her attempt to join the exclusive celebrity dating app Raya didn’t go according to plan.

Earlier this summer, Imane “Pokimane” Anys announced that she had split from her long-term partner and gave her viewers an update in August.

In a YouTube vlog, Pokimane revealed that she was “pretty pissed” when she tried her luck on Raya, a celebrity dating app that requires verification.

According to Pokimane, dating in LA is not without its challenges, as she finds it difficult to meet new people even at events because people are “not that friendly.”

“Dating apps are one of the best ways to date, but when I tried using dating apps in the past, everyone reported me because they thought I was cheating on myself,” she recalls.

“So there’s this dating app called Raya and the whole premise of Raya is that you have to apply. And it’s supposed to be a really exclusive celebrity dating app. So you have to get on the app, which I find totally embarrassing, if I may say so. I find the premise so embarrassing. But is it also possibly my best chance of meeting someone halfway decent? Kind of.”

Anys continued, explaining that she applied three months ago and that after weeks of waiting, she was finally told if she would be able to participate. However, the result was not what the Twitch star had hoped for.

“I click the continue button and it says, ‘You have been waitlisted. We review our waitlist frequently and will update you soon.’ I said, ‘Bitch, what do you mean?’ and I don’t even say, ‘Oh, I’m so fine, you better accept me.’ I’m shocked you made me wait two months just to put me on the waitlist.

Maybe I’m not that great and famous, but I’m not bad. So now I’m kind of mad. Out of pettiness, I don’t want to fucking use it. You didn’t want me, I don’t want you.”

Although she may not be on Raya, Poki says she is happy with the progress she has made in her life by focusing on herself.

Raya has been used by celebrities such as Charli XCX, who called the app “a bit stuffy and annoying,” and Addison Rae, who didn’t like that users have to choose a song for their profile.
