Somehow, it’s almost fall, which means it’s time to start looking for the best hair colors for fall. So far this year, we’ve seen a resurgence in understated luxe hair, while balayage and highlights have taken a back seat. According to stylists, this trend is likely to continue into the cooler seasons as well.
“This fall, we’re going to see a lot of enriching hair color adjustments,” says Lauren Mildice, hair colorist at Maxine Salon in Chicago Shine“Barbie blondes gain balance and depth with the addition of caramel, honey and pumpkin spice streaks throughout the hair, and strawberry blonde now transforms into rich, deep copper tones like auburn.”
And of course, natural brunettes are in for a treat too. “Brunettes have a choice – they can go from neutral to spectacular, including exciting combinations of mahogany, plum and caramel chocolate brown,” Mildice continues. “This season, it’s time to spice up our leftover summer hair!”
And what about redheads? “This is the season for reds; both warm, cool and primary tones. Think of it like lipstick: everyone has a shade of red that they like best,” says Maxine Salon colorist Rex Jimieson. “Whether it’s warm and orange, primary and vibrant, or cool and moody with purple tones, fall is the time to add color back to your hair after bleaching it all summer.”
