NASCAR Cup Series race in Richmond: USA broadcast info, start time, forecast

The battle for the NASCAR Cup playoffs continues with Sunday evening’s race at Richmond Raceway.

There are still four races left in the regular season, including Sunday’s race. Ross Chastain holds the last playoff spot. Bubba Wallace is the first driver below the cutline. He is seven points behind Chastain.

Chris Buescher is 17 points ahead of Wallace. Buescher won this race a year ago.

Details of Sunday’s Cup race at Richmond Raceway

START: The order to start the engines will be given at 17:54. The green flag is to be waved at 18:01.

BEFORE THE RACE: The garage opens at 3:00 p.m. … The drivers’ meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. … Driver introductions begin at 5:15 p.m. … Grace will be said by Gary Hamrick, pastor of Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, Virginia, at 5:46 p.m. … The National Anthem will be played by Staff Sergeant Rachael Colman of the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band at 5:47 p.m.

DISTANCE: The race consists of 400 laps (300 miles) on the 1.2 km long track.

LEVELS: Stage 1 ends on lap 70. Stage 2 ends on lap 230.

STARTING LINEUP: The cup qualification is expected to start on Saturday at 5.35 p.m.

Television/Radio: USA Network will broadcast the race at 6 p.m. Coverage begins at 5:30 p.m. on USA. … Motor Racing Network coverage begins at 5 p.m. … SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will carry the MRN broadcast.

FORECAST: The Weather Underground forecast predicts sunny skies with highs of 28 degrees and a 6 percent chance of rain for the start of the Cup race.

LAST TIME: Denny Hamlin won the spring race that went into overtime. Joey Logano finished second. Kyle Larson finished third. In that July 2023 race, Chris Buescher won. Hamlin finished second. Kyle Busch finished third.
