Michelle Obama presents herself with significantly longer hair and her transformation amazes her fans

Michelle Obama has an absolutely cool sense of style and her recent photos during a trip to a bookstore have had her fans commenting on her latest look.

The former FLOTUS took to Instagram for National Book Lovers Day and posted several pictures of herself looking at the selection of books on offer while wearing the coolest outfit – not to mention her hairstyle!

The Becoming author wore a long braid that fell well past her waist and was styled to the side of her head. A navy baseball cap helped keep the hairstyle in place.

Michelle opted for an oversized jacket, combined with a light green t-shirt and tight-fitting sweatpants. She rounded off her sporty look with a pair of sneakers.

After she shared the pictures online, her fans were quick to comment on her look. One wrote: “Michelle’s White House style is indulgent!” while another wrote: “Yes to the hair! We love you.” A third added: “Love the braid!”

Michelle uses her platform to advocate for causes close to her heart and occasionally shares insights into her personal life with her family.

The star and her husband Barack Obama are known to be very private, especially when it comes to their children Malia (26) and Sasha (23). However, on special occasions such as birthdays, the proud parents occasionally pay tribute to their daughters on Instagram.

The family is incredibly close; Malia and Sasha even decided to live together in Los Angeles, where they both currently reside.

Meanwhile, Michelle and Barack have remained in Washington, DC. They have had a difficult year, as Michelle lost her beloved mother Marian Robinson in May.

The 60-year-old recently paid tribute to her mother on what would have been her 87th birthday on July 29. In her tribute to her late mother, she highlighted the difficult period of mourning since her death and the fact that she was no longer with them, but also highlighted the love and joy she radiated and the impact this had on her family.

“Today would have been my mom’s 87th birthday,” she wrote. “The last few months without her have been hard and I am so grateful for the love you have shown our family along the way. Even though she is no longer with us, I think she is worth celebrating.”

Explaining what she found most endearing about her mother, Michelle added, “Perhaps what I loved most about my mother was this: she always felt like she was enough.”

“The tiny two-room apartment with no elevator in which we lived; the fake fireplace she built for us out of cardboard on vacation; the hair she did herself at home using the stove and a hot comb – she was always happy with what she had.

“She went into more detail about the impact Marian had on the people around her, especially her family and even other members of the White House. And because she felt like she was enough, she was able to help others feel that too.”

“She did this countless times for me and my brother Craig. She did it for her family and friends. She did it for the White House staff. She did it for everyone she knew.”

“Today, on her birthday, I celebrate the immense strength that was in her frugality. And I commit to carrying on her legacy of supporting others in any way I can. Love you, Mom. And happy birthday.”
