Drake steps in to save Italian football club from bankruptcy

Drake has been the talk of the town for the past few days. After going silent after his feud with Kendrick Lamar, aside from a few lackluster guest appearances, he has shaken the foundations of the hip-hop community in a good way. Out of the blue, he has released over 100GB of files through 100gigs.org. The site has hundreds of files that include BTS footage from the past few years, alternate album covers, and three new songs. “It’s Up” featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage, “Red Blue Green,” and “Housekeeping Knows” featuring Latto were all included. The first of these sees 21 and Drizzy potentially taking shots at Lamar and A$AP Rocky, adding even more drama to those feuds. Now, Drake is picking up more wins by financially helping out an Italian soccer club.

Accordingly TMZ Sportsthe Venezia FC team of Venice is a big deal, existing since 1907 and is a force in Serie B. Unfortunately, however, they have slowly suffered due to high expenses. Because of this, they were facing bankruptcy and were close to being relegated to Serie D. Running out of options, Venezia FC owner Brad Katsuyama asked Matte Babel for a big favor.

Drake donates tens of millions of dollars

The two are close friends, and Babel happens to be part of Drake’s team, specifically as Chief Brand Officer and a member of the management team. “He laid out the problem very simply: Venezia needs to raise ten million euros in a few weeks and then at least thirty million euros in a few months, otherwise the club will go bankrupt,” Babel said. So he, Drake and Katsuyama were able to sort things out. Apparently, all three men were able to negotiate a $40 million donation from a handful of North American investors in about two weeks. Now Venezia FC is doing much better. TMZ says new talent and facilities are being worked on and investments are expected to be completed by the 2027-2028 season.

What do you think about Drake’s $40 million donation to save Italian soccer club Venezia FC from bankruptcy? Is this one of the most generous acts you’ve seen from a rapper this year? If you’re a Drizzy critic, does this change your perspective on him, why or why not? We’d love to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments.
