A four-bedroom home in a family-friendly neighborhood in Wayne for 4,900

When the Carlsons were house hunting several years ago, Scott was impressed with the structure of the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bath home in Wayne. His wife, Christine, liked the fact that it was in the Radnor school district for their daughter.

“It’s a family-friendly area,” Christine added. “Trick-or-treating is crazy here.”

Both Scott and Christine also liked the Italian construction, which is unusual for the area, using stucco over masonry. The walls are made of cinder blocks reinforced with rebar. The couple said this helps keep the house cool in the summer.

The house is located on Calvarese Lane in West Wayne – a street named after the family that built many homes there.

The Carlsons’ home was built in 1960. Christine said that when they purchased it in 2019, it needed extensive interior work, including a new kitchen, but no structural work.

Now that Scott is retiring after serving as a military policeman, Army recruiter and police officer in Pottstown, the couple is moving to a 5-acre property in Perkiomenville. Christine teaches early childhood education at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr.

The 2,300-square-foot home they’re selling features a custom-built kitchen with an open design, designer backsplash, a Wi-Fi-enabled stove, and stainless steel appliances. The sellers will install central air conditioning.

On the second floor there are three bedrooms and a bathroom down the hall, with the master bedroom one floor up. Scott calls it “the penthouse.”

From the ground floor there is access to the garage, a laundry room and a modernized guest toilet.

For garden lovers there is a flower pot room accessible via the back door. There is also a large patio and a shed.

The house is conveniently located for shopping and dining at Devon Square Town Center and Radnor Trail.

It is being offered by Betty Angelucci of BHHS Fox & Roach Wayne-Devon for $824,900.
