A little taste of the Williston Basin CTE Center

WILLISTON, ND (KUMV) – Several career and technical education centers across North Dakota are either already up and running or nearing completion of construction, two years after receiving state and federal funding. The Williston Basin CTE Center is preparing to open in a few weeks.

District Director of Continuing Education Kenzi Brown says crews are putting the finishing touches on Williston High School’s new addition, which will house health science, aviation, culinary arts, civil engineering, and food and consumer science (FACS) classes. Brown says the focus on providing more continuing education classes gives students a glimpse into future career opportunities.

“Giving them this opportunity to get at least a little taste of what it will be like has been a great opportunity for all of our students,” Brown said.

As part of a regional partnership, students in Ray, Grenora and Trenton are also allowed to attend classes at the CTE center.

Brown says the former CTE wing is being renovated to expand classroom space for agricultural training and the newly added welding classes.

According to Brown, the CTE Center will also house the Alternative School, which will give students there the opportunity to enroll in CTE courses.
