Action Bronson reacts to video of Drake listening to the beat “Actin Crazy,” originally intended for Kendrick Lamar

Action Bronson chimed in after a video shared by Drake showed Toronto rapper and producer 40 listening to the beat for “Actin Crazy,” which they originally wanted for a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar.

In a recent update to Drake’s “100 Gigs” website, where he shares previously unreleased tracks and behind-the-scenes footage, there’s a new video that shows Drizzy and his favorite producer listening to a beat in the studio.

“I know where he’s at, he’s gonna deliver the shit,” Drake can be heard saying in the clip. “When you told me, Kendrick, it just made so much sense.”

Although Drake didn’t end up rapping over the beat, and it’s unclear if the collaboration with Kendrick went beyond the idea stage, the beat will sound familiar to some. It eventually became the Action Bronson song “Actin Crazy,” which appeared on his 2015 album. Mr Wonderful. 40 is credited as songwriter and producer of the track alongside Omen and Antoine “AudioBLK” Baldwin.

Bronson responded to the discussion about the clip online, confirming that other rappers wanted the beat too. “Why you think I’m acting crazy here?” he wrote in all caps. “HAHAHAHAH After I made the record I heard everyone and their mother wanted the beat. I had never heard of Dot. I knew 50 and a few others. Thank God I made a banger.”

Action Bronson comments on footage of Drake listening to the beat that "Act crazy."

Drake’s “100 Gigs” website offers fans more than just this glimpse into the days when Drake and Kendrick Lamar were more friendly. The latest update includes extensive footage from 2013, recordings from sessions for “Pound Cake” and other highlights from the Nothing was as before Era.3
