Active shooter shoots SWAT officers during standoff in Ohio

An active shooter fired at SWAT teams during a standoff with police in Ohio.

Officers are currently on scene of the incident near West 8th Avenue in Columbus after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.

The unknown attacker reportedly fired shots at officers who called in canine units and SWAT teams for assistance. It is still unclear whether anyone was injured.

Images taken at the scene show a large police presence; ABC 6 reported that 16 police cars arrived at the scene.

According to police radio, several residential buildings were evacuated due to the ongoing situation.

Officers are currently on scene of the incident on West 8th Avenue in Columbus after receiving reports of shots fired in the area.

A dispatcher said a 911 call came in about a burglary in the University District in which a man fired shots into an apartment.

When officers arrived, they saw the suspect reloading his weapon before barricading himself somewhere in the area.

A dispatcher said gunfire was exchanged twice between the suspect and police, but no one was injured.
