Akshay Kumar ‘horrified’ by Manish Malhotra’s suggestion to cut chest hair for ‘Dhadkan’ song

Bollywood actors often react unusually to body hair. Director Anurag Kashyap revealed that he was ghosted after proposing Salman Khan Growing chest hair for ‘Tere Naam’ while fashion designers Manish Malhotra noted that Akshay Kumar was “horrified” by his suggestion to trim his chest hair for a role.
On the YouTube channel We Are Yuvaa, Manish Malhotra shared that women used to be very choosy about their choice of clothes while men were less concerned. He recounted a memorable moment: “I remember we were in Switzerland, we were shooting a song for Dhadkan and I told Akshay Kumar to trim his chest hair because he was wearing a white shirt. And he was horrified. It was for ‘Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se’. And the director, Dharmesh Darshanwas very supportive and said, ‘Yes, it’s the right thing.'”
Manish Malhotra recalled the typical instructions he received on how to dress women, which often involved making them look “sexy.” He said, “I remember one time the instruction was, ‘She’s going to a funeral, but she should look sexy.’ And I always wondered what that meant.”
While Manish Malhotra did not elaborate on the implications of his suggestion to Akshay Kumar, Anurag Kashyap faced a different reaction when he recommended Salman Khan to grow chest hair for ‘Tere Naam’. Kashyap revealed to Bollywood Bubble that he was virtually ignored by the film. After making his suggestion, he received no further communication, did not know when the shooting began, and did not get a response from Salman. The producer was the one who responded, and Kashyap has not met Salman since then, only exchanging fleeting greetings.
