Amazon and Barclays launch co-branded credit card

Amazon and Barclays have announced a new partnership to launch a co-branded credit card in the UK. The new card will allow customers to earn rewards on everyday spending, which they can redeem for gift cards on Amazon.co.uk.

Amazon Barclaycard customers receive 1% rewards on all Amazon purchases, 0.5% rewards on everyday spending outside of Amazon for the first 12 months and 0.25% thereafter.

Customers can track their rewards balance in the Barclaycard app and exchange their rewards for Amazon gift cards. The card has no annual fee and customers currently even receive a £20 Amazon.co.uk gift card if their application is approved.

Customers also benefit from 0% APR on all purchases for the first six months. After that, the card’s APR is 28.9%, with the loan amount and interest rate depending on the customer’s financial situation and credit history.

Cardholders also have access to Barclaycard’s entertainment benefits, including pre-sale rights to selected UK events and 10% off pre-sale tickets when paying with their Amazon Barclaycard. Amazon Barclaycard customers also receive 10% off food and drink at selected venues.

John Boumphrey, Country Manager for Amazon UK, said: “We are delighted to introduce the Amazon Barclaycard, which offers cardholders the opportunity to earn rewards on their Amazon purchases and everyday activities with no annual fee. Providing value to our customers is incredibly important to us, so we are excited to introduce a new payment option that will help customers save and earn on Amazon.”
