André 3000 admits he was sad about the fight between Drake and Kendrick Lamar

A rapper who plays the flute doesn’t seem to be the first to have a falling out, so it makes sense that André 3000 didn’t inflame the rap battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake earlier this year. The OutKast member spoke openly about what he thinks of the two rap stars’ disputes in a new cover interview with Crack Magazine, which premiered on Thursday (August 8).

During the conversation, Three Stacks admitted that he actually enjoyed the feud at one point, but then expressed his feelings about the bigger picture of the issues K-Dot and Drizzy were having with each other.

“I got a little sad at some point,” revealed André 3000. “In the early rap battles, kids rapped against each other in the park. But today, it’s not just people who rap. There are people with 100 employees. Livelihoods, empires, companies, contracts – everything can be at stake. If you have nothing to lose, then of course you can try. But if I’ve already done it, I’m not sure if it’s even worth it anymore.”

André is right. As the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar escalated, both sides made serious accusations. Drake accused K-Dot of abusing his fiancée in the diss “Family Matters,” while Kendrick called Drizzy a pedophile in “Not Like Us.” Both are words that every artist wants to see associated with their name in a simple Google search. The livelihoods that André says could be threatened by an escalating feud are no exaggeration.
