Angels outfielder Mike Trout and his son hit the jackpot when they unwrapped a baseball card

Even Mike Trout gets excited when he draws baseball cards. Of course, Trout could find his own rookie card if he wanted to, but half the fun is that every time you open a pack, you can’t predict who you’re going to draw.

Trout, a South Jersey native, joined his son Beckham in pulling his own rookie card from a massive box of 2009 Bowman Draft and Prospect baseball cards.

“We have to get you, Daddy,” Beckham said. “I believe so, Daddy. We’ll see.”

Of course, since he’s Mike Trout, he only had to open one pack before he could get a signed Mike Trout rookie card.

“No way, dude, no way!” Trout shouted. “Let’s go! We just did it. We just did a monster! Let’s go, baby!”

Trout had every reason to be excited—his rookie autograph cards have sold for as much as $900,000. The card Trout pulled probably isn’t worth that much, but a similar Bowman Trout rookie autograph card is currently on eBay for $8,000, which is still a decent chunk of money.

The Angels center fielder is, of course, in the fifth year of a 12-year, $426.5 billion contract. But the joy on his and Beckham’s faces was priceless.

Former Phillie and current Angel Logan O’Hoppe and current Phillie Matt Strahm, himself an avid card collector, were two of the many players who celebrated Trout’s appeal.

“Was trying to make fun of (Beckham) like he was one of the guys,” O’Hoppe commented, to which Trout replied, “He’s one of the guys!”

At the end of the video, Beckham pulled out his card protectors and insisted that they pack their new card.

“This is epic!” wrote Strahm. “I love the ending: ‘Daddy, let’s put it in one of these!’ The little man knows!”
