A tip to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office app led to the arrest of two people in connection with a stolen vehicle.
Amber Marie McCoy, 26, of River Hill Road, Statesville, and Anthony Mack Dorland, 43, of Fourth Street SW, Hickory, were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
McCoy was remanded without bail and given an additional $2,000 bail because an outstanding Catawba County warrant for his arrest for possession of methamphetamine was still outstanding. Dorland was also served with a Catawba County warrant for violating probation and given a $10,000 bail, the release said.
Iredell Sheriff Darren Campbell said in the release that Deputy Madison Sharpe of the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team (ACE) responded to a tip received through the app regarding a stolen vehicle at a motel on Greenland Drive shortly after midnight on August 17.

Sharpe found the blue Dodge Challenger described in the app in the motel parking lot and confirmed that it had been reported stolen in Indiana, Campbell said.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage that showed McCoy getting out of the Dodge with Dorland as a passenger, Campbell said. Officers went into the couple’s room, knocked on the door and after a few minutes, he said, McCoy came to the door. Both were taken into custody and the outstanding warrants were discovered.
