Arsenal fans were furious after Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera escaped a red card following an altercation with Kai Havertz.

The incident occurred at the beginning of the second half when the two players were entangled in a tangle of arms and legs.

Havertz put his left arm around Mosquera to prevent the Colombian from continuing to play, but the Wolves defender looked visibly frustrated and pushed Havertz to the turf.

Then Mosquera appeared to forcefully place his right hand on Havertz’s neck.

When Mosquera realized what he had just done, he raised his hand as if to apologize and also slowly fell to the grass.

Luckily for Mosquera and Wolves, he escaped without receiving a ticket for the incident.

But Arsenal fans were not quite as forgiving on social media, with many baffled as to how the Wolves player was allowed to stay on the pitch.

@afcadil wrote on X: “An absolute disgrace for the referee’s performance. The fact that he can’t be sent off or even cautioned for this is more than just a joke. @FA_PGMOL, sort this out!”

Another fan referred to the controversial red card in the Newcastle vs. Southampton match, in which Fabian Schar was sent off for a headbutt that caused Ben Brereton Diaz to fall to the ground.

@absol01 added: “PGMOL is so useless, only day one. Heads together is the red card, but grabbing the throat is not.”

@gunner_mtl posted: “Just red, but the rules don’t apply to Arsenal!”

@SantiPodolski said: “This is a terrible refereeing performance and a confusing decision from the VAR.”

The incident with Havertz was not Mosquera’s only headline-grabbing moment, as it looked like he had grabbed Gabriel Jesus’ butt.

The Arsenal striker hit back and received a yellow card.

Ultimately, it was Havertz who laughed at Mosquera as Arsenal won 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Havertz scored the Gunners’ first goal in the 25th minute, heading past Jose Sa to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Arsenal doubled their lead in the 74th minute when Havertz provided the assist for Bukayo Saka.
