According to Phoenix Regional Dispatch, Maricopa Police and Fire Department responded to North John Wayne Parkway and West Smith-Enke Road at 10:46 a.m. to report that a person had to be extricated from a vehicle.

A BMW sedan and a Dodge SUV were both broken down in the westbound lanes of Smith-Enke, just east of the intersection. Both vehicles had severe front-end damage and were facing each other.

“We are on the scene of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Smith Enke and John Wayne Parkway,” said city spokeswoman Monica Williams. “Minor injuries were reported.”

While the accident site is being cleared, westbound traffic is restricted between Smith and Enke.
