AXS has launched AXS Drive, a mobile app that automatically charges parking fees to the driver’s credit card linked to vehicle data.
Available for Android and iOS, the AXS Drive app allows drivers to download it, enter their license plate number and In-Vehicle Unit (IU) number, and link a credit or debit card for payments. Currently, only Mastercard cards are supported.
The mobile app records a vehicle’s entry and exit times using license plate recognition and processes payments after the vehicle leaves the parking lot. It can currently be used in 12 commercial parking garages, including Downtown East, Far East Plaza, The Heeren and Wisma Atria.
Because AXS Drive is integrated into the existing electronic parking systems (EPS) that recognize the IU, parking solution providers and operators can easily implement the solution without the need for additional hardware. AXS aims to onboard 100 commercial parking facilities by the end of this year.
Motorists are often frustrated when parking garage gates remain closed when attempting to exit parking spaces. This usually happens when the EPS has problems processing parking fee payments. As an account-based payment processing system, AXS Drive aims to alleviate these frustrations caused by IU reading errors or cashcard errors.

Additionally, AXS Drive allows drivers to check parking availability and receive real-time traffic updates through integrated traffic camera updates. The mobile app also provides a convenient way to manage common automotive service payments such as road tax renewals and traffic fine payments. It maintains a detailed transaction log of online receipts so users can easily track expenses and submit reimbursement claims.
Benefits for parking operators
Parking garage operators also benefit from AXS Drive. The AXS system can record vehicle data more accurately when exiting, thus avoiding traffic jams at the exit bridges. At the same time, the parking fee is debited in the backend using AXS Drive’s account-based payment method. This significantly reduces debiting errors and increases the parking garage operators’ revenue.
AXS Drive also integrates easily with existing parking authorization programs, enables the digitization of vouchers such as parking tickets and permits, streamlines processes and reduces administrative effort and paper waste. By automating parking space management, facility management staff can focus on more important tasks.
In addition, AXS Drive offers value-added features such as real-time display of available parking spaces to increase occupancy rates and increase revenue potential.
To encourage user adoption of the AXS Drive app, AXS offers drivers a $1 voucher toward their next parking fee for every referral that pays at least one parking fee through the app. Vouchers earned can be tracked in the Parking Permissions section of the mobile app and are automatically applied toward parking fee deductions. Any remaining parking fees are deducted from the linked Mastercard cards.
