WAYNE, NJ — With just two weeks left until the start of the new school year in Wayne Township Public Schools, district officials are sharing information with families to make sure they have the correct forms on hand and letting them know when class schedules and teacher assignments will be announced.
The first day of school for all K-12 schools is Thursday, September 5th. The Preakness Early Childhood Center will host an orientation event on this dayand will begin school on Friday, September 6th.

Required forms and information
First, all parents and guardians must complete the Back to School Form Acknowledgement process through the OnCourseConnect digital platform. District Policy Form Acknowledgement is required each year and for each student – it must be completed before you can access class schedules and teacher assignments. Click here to view instructions on completing these forms.
Students attending the Preakness Early Childhood Center or any of the elementary schools are also required to submit a release form. To access these forms, go to the school website and then navigate through the menu as follows: School Info > Notices and Documents > Release Form.
Bus tickets and timetables/teacher assignments
High School schedules will be released on August 23, Middle School schedules on August 27, and Elementary School/PECC teacher assignments on August 28. All schedules/assignments will be released after 3:00 p.m. on these days.
“Specific questions regarding your student’s teacher assignment or class schedule should be discussed directly with the school principal,” officials said.
Bus passes will be sent via email through OnCourse on Aug. 26, the district said. Families are reminded to verify all email addresses associated with the student’s account.
Orientation events for new students, open days and ice cream parties
Incoming ninth-graders will receive orientation at Wayne Hills and Wayne Valley, while middle schools will offer open houses and elementary school families will get to meet teachers and classmates over ice cream. Here are the dates.

- 28 August – 6th grade
- August 29 – 7th and 8th grade
Daycare and primary schools
Before the ECC:
- Aug. 28 / Rainy day August 29th; orientation September 5th.
